But not in the boiler!
Or a polite way of saying Meaford No.2 failed over the Easter weekend with a blown joint in the boiler manhole. However, on the plus side she had done two days quite successfully and it was only in the evening as she was cooling down from the day's efforts that the joint decided that the quickest way was out! Luckily Florence No.2 was all primed and ready to go and was steamed on the Sunday to cover the services for the second two days, only giving minor problems on the Monday as the hotbox issue reared its head again.
Last Sunday your's truly was in charge of Wimblebury which performed with her usual effortlessness, no doubt aided by the excellent clean she had been given by Scott the day before and whilst prepping that morning. Suitably enthused I got stuck in and fixed a leak on the supply to the water tank used for watering the locos and then went on to shim Wimble's regulator handle to take all the excess play out of it and, lo and behold, it then shut properly! Finally a good clean round the cab and a change of overalls and we were ready for our public... wish we actually got some! It's been a quiet start to the season but hopefully the marketing department will be able to turn this round and we will see some visitors coming to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and facilties.
